JAMMU, Apr 26: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan today inaugurated three development works in Kathua constituency, including two lane and drain projects and a borewell for drinking water supply.
A statement said the inaugurated projects included construction of lane and drain in Ward No 3 at Indra Colony near Degree College Kathua, and another lane and drain in Ward No 17 near Prithinandan Singh Memorial Police Training School.
Both works were funded under the Constituency Development Scheme, it said.
The statement further said that residents of the areas welcomed the MLA and thanked him for taking up the pending works as according to them, the poor drainage and accumulation of dirty water and garbage had been causing inconvenience and health concerns for a long time.
Later, it said, the MLA started work on a borewell at Maira in Keerian village, where locals had been demanding the facility for several years due to shortage of drinking water.
They expressed hope that the borewell would solve the water crisis in the locality.
Interacting with residents, Dr Bharat Bhushan listened to their grievances and assured them that other civic issues would also be addressed in a time-bound manner.
Several local leaders and prominent persons were present on the occasion.
