MJR-47 resents neglect of DP representatives

JAMMU, Apr 30: MJR-47, Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from PoK, expressed deep disappointment on today’s cabinet reshuffle.
Reacting sharply over today’s reshuffle the members of the organisation in an emergency meeting held today said that almost 12 lakhs DPs of 1947 had high hopes that one of their representatives among the legislators of BJP will be inducted in the ministry to expedite the relief packages already recommended by State Govt as well as Parliamentary Committee also. DP’s of 1947 from PoK have been highlighting this demand to enable them to take up their cause with more thrust at high levels of Govt.
It is sad to note that none of the previous and the new incumbents in this ministry have even once taken up the issue of DP’s in the Assembly or anywhere in public. None of the BJP Ministers including the MoS Relief & Rehabilitation has ever written any note on the issues to the State or to the Union Govt in its three year’s rule. The only legislator of the Council who has always been taking up the issue of DP’s in the Assembly sessions and other forums has also been ignored.
The only correspondence has been to reduce the financial package of Rs 30/25 lakh per DP family to Rs 5.5 lakh per family which comes to a meagre few thousands to each existing family units today. The DP’s who have been part of two Parliamentary and 25 Assembly constituencies in Jammu province, on the assurance then given by BJP leaders, had voted en- mass in favour of BJP in the last general and Assembly elections and giving the BJP a historical victory in both elections. But it’s very disheartening to see that BJP has totally ignored contribution of DP’s and meted out high discrimination against the DP’s as has been done by all other political parties.
MJR-47 is convinced that BJP has failed to recognize the grievances and the contribution of DP’s of 1947 for BJP to rule in the State and certainly should not expect this in the coming election in near future. The DP’s will have to think of some alternative platform to get justice, they maintained.
