Mixed trend in the foodgrain market

CHENNAI, Mar 15: Prices of Tur dal, moong dal and sugar increased while that of maida decreased in this week at the wholesale market here.

However, the prices of urad dal and gram dal ruled steady throughout the week.

Tur dal remained at its opening price of Rs 7,000 till Wednesday and moved up by Rs 100 per quintal on the next day to close at Rs 7,100.

Moong dal moved up sharply on Thursday by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 9,800 from its opening price of Rs 9,500 to close at Rs 9,800.

Sugar opened at Rs 2,950, an increase of Rs 50 per quintal, to again rise on Thursday to Rs 3,000 and closed at the same price.

Wheat fell on its opening day by Rs 100 to Rs 2,400 from its closing rates of Rs 2,500 to rise again on Thursday by Rs 100 to close at Rs 2,500.

Maida opened the week at Rs 2,500, an increase of Rs 50 from its closing rates of Rs 2,450 but its price fell on Thursday by Rs 100 to close at Rs 2,400

Sooji (90 kgs) rose on its opening price by Rs 50 to Rs 2,600 from its closing rate of Rs 2,550 and fell on Thursday by Rs 50 to close at its opening rate of Rs 2550. (AGENCIES)
