JAMMU, May 30: The dead body of a 33-year-old woman, who went missing three days ago, was recovered today from a canal in Gadigarh area of Jammu.
“Pooja (33) wife of Rohit Gupta, resident of H No. 45, Sector 2 Channi Himmat, Jammu, was missing from her residence since afternoon of May 27 and a search was on for her,” said Sohan Singh, Incharge, police post Gadigarh.
He said that the body of Pooja was seen floating in Ranbir canal at Dharp in Gadigarh area in the outskirts of the city this afternoon and was subsequently fished out by police.
“The body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu and after post-mortem conducted by a board of doctors, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites,” the officer added.
He said prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide as the woman was in depression for past quite some time but the exact reason will be known only after outcome of postmortem report.
