JAMMU, May 17: Confusion and mismanagement of the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) in conducting Combined Entrance Test (CET) – 2016, keep on subjecting the aspirant candidates to suffer again and again.
After rendering MBBS and BDS aspirants puzzled over their participation in the CET, which was held on May 14 and 15, the BOPEE is now learnt to have decided to withhold all the results, except PCM (Physics Chemistry Math) combination for the Engineering courses.
According to the authoritative sources, the BOPEE has decided not to declare the CET result for the combination of Bio-Sciences as there has been no clarity on conduct of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) by the Central agency for MBBS and BDS courses this year.
The purported BOPEE decision of withholding all results except Engineering is all set to hit thousands of aspirants for BUMS, BAMS, Physiotherapy and five other professional courses, who have appeared in the CET this year, sources added.
Even as the Supreme Court of India, in its judgement, has made it clear that admissions for MBBS and BDS courses throughout India will be made only through NEET from this year, the BOPEE is still creating confusion over the same for the reasons best known to the authorities at the helm of affairs.
Besides triggering confusions, mismanagement also appears to be an integral part of the BOPEE and this was evident from uploading of flawed answer keys of the CET-2016 on official website of the agency.
Wrong answers were uploaded on the BOPEE website thus confusing the candidates, who were eagerly waiting for the answer keys. The answer uploaded in Physics key wrongly stated that “Momentum” has dimensions independent of mass and length and work done in moving a charge on equipotential surface is “positive”. Same was the case with answer keys uploaded for Chemistry and Mathematics, the candidates alleged and raised a question mark on credibility of BOPEE.
Also prior as well as during the exams, there were lots of complains against BOPEE for its alleged mismanagement.
The Jammers installed in the examination centres to prevent use of mobile phones, chips, Bluetooth etc during the CET, were allegedly not functioning and this was pointed out by even a Secretary level officer, who visited one of the exam centres, sources said.
When contacted, Controller BOPEE, Prof Farooq Ahmad Mir, admitted that there were complaints of Jammers not functioning during the exam but, he added, such happened only when the power was off. “Despite out prior request to the Power Development Department for ensuring regular supply of electricity during the conduct of exams, power cuts were observed thus Jammers becoming non-functional,” he added.
Prof Mir also admitted the mistakes in the answer keys and said the error took place because of some problem in jumbling chart. Further, he added, the concerned expert had undergone a surgery and some other person uploaded the key. But after we received the complaints by some candidates, we changed the wrong key and uploaded new one with correct answers.
