JAMMU, Mar 4: Minister for Revenue, Javaid Mustafa Mir today on assumption of office convened an introductory meeting with the senior officers of the department.
Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr Arun Kumar apprised the Minister about the functioning of department and achievements registered during the year.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, Vinod Koul, Settlement Commissioner, Mohammad Yousuf Dar and senior officer of the Revenue Department.
Mr. Mir also took a comprehensive review of the settlement operations being carried out by the department and implementation of Public Service Guarantee Act.
The Minister said that it is imperative that the general public should be sensitized about the Public Service Guarantee Act and its legal provisions which safeguard their interest. He said that despite the fact that these services should be delivered in time bound manner there are severe bottlenecks impeding the effective delivery mechanism which needs to be checked .
He directed the officers to take this as a mission and launch mass awareness campaign among the people and stakeholders do not face any problems and there are no undue delays in revenue related services.
He also reviewed the settlement operations and asked Financial Commissioner Revenue to ensure that settlement operations are carried out effectively. Besides, he also reviewed the status of new administrative units.
