ANANTNAG, July 9: Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir has directed the departments concerned to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply besides launch of proper sanitation drive around mosques and shrines to facilitate the people during the holy month of Ramadan.
He was reviewing the arrangements made by the administration for providing hassle free services to the people of Anantnag district during Ramadan month at a meeting of the officers held at Dooru today.
The Minister instructed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to ensure uninterrupted drinking water facilities to the people during the holy month while the Power Development Department (PDD) had been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply especially at Sehri and Iftaar times.
Mir directed the concerned officers of Municipal Committees to ensure special sanitation drives around the mosques, shrines and other religious places besides all link roads of the towns. He instructed the concerned to press additional men and machinery into service and ensure lifting of garbage on daily basis from all over the towns.
The Minister exhorted upon the officers to coordinate their efforts to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience with respect to essential supplies during Ramadan. He also directed the authorities of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) to ensure availability of essential commodities including sugar and flour at their sale centers. He also directed them to intensify market checking and ensure that consumers were not cheated by black marketers and profiteers.
Mr. Mir also visited several areas of Dooru constituency, took stock of people’s problems and developmental needs and instructed the concerned officers to ensure time bound completion of developmental projects for early benefits of the people, besides solving the people’s genuine problems on priority.
Meanwhile, the Minister visited Shiv Temple at Lok Bowan and took stock of the arrangements made by the administration for performing annual hawan by Kashmiri Pandits there.
Tourism Minister, while interacting with yatris assured them that Government has taken all necessary initiatives for upgradation of various facilities to the visiting devotees at the various pilgrimage sites.
