JAMMU, Nov 27: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president GA Mir discussed present political situation and party affairs with the Party president Rahul Gandhi and top AICC leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni during his three-day tour to Union capital (Delhi).
PCC president while concluding his tour of Union capital called on AICC president Rahul Gandhi and briefed him about the socio, political scenario obtaining in the State.
Both the leaders held, threadbare, discussion on organizational affairs and activities in all the three regions of the State. The security scenario in the State, besides many issues of public importance also came under discussion.
On this occasion, both (Rahul & Mir) expressed serious concern over the fragile situation and political uncertainty prevailing in the State, holding Centre Govt directly responsible for political crisis in the State.
They also discussed the strategies to be adopted with regard to strengthening the Party further in all the three regions. Congress president also deliberated on Congress party’s role under the given circumstances in the State.
Prior to the meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Mir also held one to one meetings with AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, who is also incharge of Party affairs in J&K and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad.
They also discussed the current political crisis in the State, besides holding discussions on organizational affairs and activities.
Meanwhile, PCC chief has said that the Governor’s statement has vindicated the opposition charge that BJP wanted the Governor to install a Government through defections against all constitutional norms.
Reacting to the Governor’s claim that had he looked to Delhi, he would have installed Sajad Lone as Chief Minister, Mir said that this vindicates our stand that he had to dissolve the assembly since he had no option to defeat the claim of single largest party led by Mehbooba Mufti for Government formation.
As the Governor had no option except to invite the single largest party claiming majority to form the Government, the Governor resorted to dissolving the Assembly to prevent the Government formation, since he was under pressure to install BJP supported Government.
He charged that the Governor had to resort to unconstitutional act of dissolving the house in haste without exercising the constitutional obligation of inviting the single largest party claiming strength to prove majority on the floor of the House.
He also regretted that SP Malik is lowering the august office of the Governor by repeatedly changing stance and retracting statements. But the cat is finally out of the bag now, that Modi Government at Centre was pressuring Governor to install a Chief Minister with backing of BJP by arranging numbers apparently through horse trading.
