JAMMU, July 9: JKPCC president G A Mir today called on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi and during their one to one meeting, many aspects of political socio and economic development obtaining in the State, came under discussion.
Threadbare discussions were held with regard to rejuvenation of the party further from booth level and both the leaders also discussed the organizational structure in the State. Mir also apprised Rahul Gandhi about the ongoing membership drive in the State, said an official handout by the party.
The JKPCC chief informed Congress vice president regarding the efforts of the Congress party for seeking resolution of the problems confronting people of the State due to alleged wrong polices of PDP-BJP Coalition in the State. Mir also informed Rahul about the post flood situations people are facing due to lack of funding for relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected people from the Centre. He further informed Rahul Gandhi about the inability of Coalition Govt in the State to seek adequate funding for flood affected people, the handout added.
Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that the party in J&K was emerging as a more vibrant force and the efforts being made by the Congressmen for resolution of people’s issues as a constructive opposition, was commendable.
Later, the JKPCC chief also called on AICC general secretary Ambika Soni at the latter’s residence and discussed with her organizational structure and the role to be played by Congress ahead.
