Minor killed, 8 injured as makeshift motorcycle-rickshaw rolls down

RAMBAN, Nov 8: A minor was killed while 8 others sustained injuries after a makeshift motorcycle-rickshaw rolled down into a gorge near Kowbagh area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today evening.

As per police sources, a makeshift motorcycle-rickshaw rolled down into a gorge near Kowbagh area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here today, resulting into on the spot death of a minor boy and injuries to 8 others.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals. DC Ramban and SSP Ramban PD Nitya along with other district officials visited the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
All the injured persons were rushed to District Hospital Ramban, from where five critically injured were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for specialised treatment.
The deceased was identified as Bhirban (6), son of Rampal of Punjab, while the injured were identified as Rampal (driver), son of Ram Swaroop of Punjab, Suraj Bhan (12), son of Rampal of Punjab, Chameli (7), daughter of Rampal of Punjab, Gulshan (6), daughter of Salman of Uttar Pradesh, at present Kowbagh District Ramban, Zameerun (3), daughter of Salman of Uttar Pradesh, at present Kowbagh District Ramban, Chandni (9), daughter of Mohammad Israr of Kowbagh District Ramban, Salma (12), daughter of Mohammad Mohd Israr of Kowbagh District Ramban and Sabana (14), daughter of Mohd Israr of Kowbagh District Ramban.
The driver was driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and lost control due to over-speed.
However, a case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
