Ministers visit border villages to review situation

KATHUA, Oct 22: Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Ch Lal Singh and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary today visited border areas and took stock of facilities being provided to the people in relief camps.
Ch Lal Singh met the people affected by cross border firing and assessed damages to houses and other property in Bobiya and Patti Meru villages of Hiranagar sector.
While interacting with the affected families, he assured them all necessary help from the Government and directed civil administration and police to remain vigilant and immediately respond at times of border shelling. He also directed concerned officers to remain present in their respective jurisdictions to deal with any emergency situation and for prompt action.
The villagers informed the Minister about various local issues including construction of permanent bunkers, increase in compensation to persons killed in cross border firing, creation of a separate township for people living in border areas and macadamization of Sapalwan border road which is mainly used during evacuation.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary visited border areas in R S Pura and took stock of the facilities being provided to people in the temporary relief camps.
While chairing a meeting at R S Pura, Sham Choudhary was apprised by the concerned officers regarding various facilities being provided by the administration in the temporary relief camps. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that the people do not suffer on account of any basic service in these camps.
