JAMMU, Sept 16: The decks have been cleared for the construction of prestigious Ans irrigation canal project in Budhal Kandi area of border district Rajouri .
The project work including Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) estimated to cost Rs 5.65 crore has been allotted to private construction company M/s ECI-SRM Projects.
This information was given at a meeting convened by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar and Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali here today to discuss the execution of work of the prestigious irrigation project which on its completion would benefit a large number of farmers of Budhal Kandi area of Rajouri district.
The meeting was attended by Secretary PHE/I&FC Department Parvez Ahmad Malik, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Jammu Rajiv Gandotra, District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Shabir Ahmad Bhat, representatives of executing agency M/s ECI-SRM, besides other officers of the concerned departments.
Reviewing the project blue print and details of the work plan, the Ministers were informed that all formalities have been completed and the work on the project would be started by the executing agency in next few days. The executing agency representatives, while giving details of their preparedness, also told the Ministers that they have activated men and machinery to start the work.
Choudhary Zulfkar Ali directed Irrigation & Flood Control Department and the executing agency to work in coordination and ensure that the project is completed in stipulated time frame.
The Minister also directed the executing agency to engage the local skilled and unskilled labour in construction work adding that they have high stake in the development activities initiated by the State Government.
