JAMMU, Aug 23: Various Ministers and leaders of political parties today visited border areas in R S Pura Sector to ascertain situation there where two persons were killed and five others were injured in overnight firing by Pakistani troops.
The Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today visited the border hamlets in R S Pura Sector. The Minister met the families of the deceased persons and expressed heartfelt condolences. He told the bereaved families that the people of the entire State share their grief adding that the Government would take every measure to ensure safety and security of the life and property of the people of border areas.
He directed the administration to ensure providing all basic amenities to the affected families.
The Minister also handed over ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh cheque to each to the next of the kin of the deceased persons and Rs 10,000 to those injured in firing.
Minister of Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla today visited Abdulian, Korotana, Trewal, Jabowal and Arnia villages of R S Pura tehsil and assessed the losses caused due to ceasefire violations by Pakistan in R S Pura in overnight firing.
District Development Commissioner Ajit Kumar Sahu, senior officers of BSF, Police and local administration accompanied him. Mr Bhalla also expressed his heart felt sympathies with the bereaved family whose two members died in firing from across the border.
Minister of Planning Labour and Employment, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today visited Government Medical College, Hospital Jammu and enquired about the health of those injured in the cross border firing in R S Pura. Sadhotra, while interacting with the patients assured them all necessary assistance from the Government.
BJP State president and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma visited Jora, Niaoguanwal,Devigarh, Balachak, Sai Kalan, Sai Khurd border areas in Suchetgarh in R S Pura Sector to assess the situation there caused due shelling from across the border.
Sharma interacted with border people and assured them that the losses incurred on them due to continuous firing from across the border will be fully compensated.
Former Minister and general secretary JKPCC, R S Chib also visited Jeoda where two persons of a family died due to Pak shelling. He also participated in their funeral procession which was joined by large number of people. Mr Chib discussed the problems being faced by border people due to shelling and discussed the same with DC Jammu and urged him to make all arrangements for the effected families.
