Minister raids CDPO, DPO offices, ICDS Centres

JAMMU, May 12: Minister for Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat today conducted surprise visit to the offices of District Programme Officer, ICDS Jammu, CDPO and two ICDS Centre at Buta Nagar and Roop Nagar and lifted samples of nutrition items being supplied to various Anganwadi Centres in district Jammu.
Accompanied by the Drug and Food Safety Officers and a Magistrate the minister during the inspection of ICDS Centres and the offices, directed the team to lift two samples each of the food items. The Designated Food Safety Officer and his juniors lifted samples of nutrition items including, Chana, Green Mungi, Nutri, Haldi powder, rice, biscuits, Suji, edible oils (Refined and Mustard) and some medicines being provided to the children of the Anganwadi Centres.
While inspecting the office of District Programme Officer (DPO), the Minister checked the attendance register and other records pertaining the procurement, supply of nutrition and other items. He issued instructions to the DPO to streamline the functioning of office and ensure punctuality of staff in the office. He also directed to affectively monitor the functioning of the ICDS Centres, exact enrolment of children and the quality nutrition being provided there.
The Minister directed the Designated Drug & Food Safety Officers who accompanied him to undertake the laboratory tests of the lifted samples of the nutrition items and submit the reports within a shortest possible time. The Minister directed his personal staff to send second samples of the food items and drugs for Lab testing outside the State.
Meanwhile, ICDS Mission Director (J&K), Mukhtar-ul-Aziz said that he has directed the CDPOs of all the Projects in tehsils/ blocks of Samba district to lift all the sub-standard stuff/ food items supplied to the Anganwadi Centres. He said that about 50 percent of the staff has been brought back to the District Project office while the process to collect the remaining was on.
