LEH, Sept 14: Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in collaboration with Chunghwa International Merits Society of Buddha-Puja and the Buddhist from Taiwan is organising Sanghadana for nearly 2000 monks of Ladakh.
Sanghadana means offering to the holy Sangha (monks & nuns) of the entire Sangha of Ladakh and some Sangha members from outside too.
The Sanghadana is sponsored by Buddhist devotees from Taiwan.
Addressing a press conference today MIMC Founder Director Bhikkhu Sanghasena said that this will be their fourth Sanghadana that will be held on Sept 17 at MIMC campus where 2000 monks and nuns will recite prayer for world peace and prosperity.
MIMC has been involved in various humanitarian and charitable activities for the last three and a half decades. MIMC has organised three Sanghadana (offering requisites to Sangha members) in the past for the Sangha members of entire Ladakh region. The practice of Sanghadana has existed since the times of Buddha. Monks and nuns live on donation made by Leh people, and in turn dedicate their lives for the spiritual enrichment of themselves and providing spiritual guidance to Leh people. Keeping with this tradition, venerable monks and nuns from Bhutan, Thailand, Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and monks, nuns and Rinpoche’s from all over Ladakh are expected to participate in this historic and auspicious event.
During the Sanghadana, special prayers for world peace would be offered by all Sangha members.
Madam Wang Shue Yu, General Secretary of Chung-Hwa International Merits Society, Taiwan along with over 45 monks, nuns and lay devotees has arrived at MIMC to offer the Sanghadana.
Over 30 members of the Executive Committee of the World Alliance for Buddhists from Thailand are arriving in M1MC to participate in this auspicious Sanghadana.
The members of the Executive Committee of the World Alliance for Buddhists would be holding their annual executive meeting on Sept 18, 2018 and a seminar on the theme of ‘Buddhist Approach to the Challenges Facing the World at Present’ at MIMC. The board members will deliberate and come up with a realistic action plan to address some of the grave crises affecting the world today.
