Mill sealed for supplying expired ‘dalia’ to Anganwadi Centres, owner arrested

JAMMU, Sept 1: Police today sealed a mill for supplying expired ‘dalia’ to Anganwadi Centres, being run under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS)–a Central Government scheme and seized large quantity of expired ‘dalia’ packets and other materials used for changing the manufacturing and expiry dates on the packets.
Moreover, the police also arrested the owner of the mill and initiated action against him under relevant Sections of law.
As per police sources, an information was received regarding supply of expired ‘dalia’ packets to the Anganwadi Centres after changing the manufacturing and expiry dates.
Acting on the information, police team conducted a raid at “Durga Dal Mill” at Narwal in presence of Ist Class Magistrate Bashir Ahmed.
During the raid, the police seized 500 bags containing expired dalia packets, 156 bags containing dalia packets having smudged manufacturing dates, stamps and chemicals used for changing the manufacturing and expiry dates.
Police arrested the owner of the mill on the spot, who has been identified as Sudesh Kumar, son of late Tara Chand of Channi Himmat.
The seized packets were meant for Anganwadi Centres, being run under Central Government’s scheme–Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).
A case under Section 211/15 under Section 420 and 272 RPC and 3/7 Essential Commodity Act has been registered against the owner of the mill at Bahu Fort police station and investigation started.
The whole operation was carried out by SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas alongwith SHO Bahu Fort police station Inspector Naveen Angral, Incharge Narwal police post SI Vishal Kumar under the supervision of SP South Uday Baskar Billa and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
