SRINAGAR, June 26: Militants have managed to give slip to security forces after an initial exchange of fire which took place last evening in Shirmal area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
An official said that after an initial exchange of fire between militants and security forces, there was no further contact with the militants.
It seems militants might have escaped taking advantage of darkness after the initial exchange of fire, the officer added.
Yesterday a joint team of police and Army had launched a cordon operation in Shirmal after receiving specific input about the presence of 2-3 militants in the area.
