Srinagar, Sept 29: Militants fled from the cordon after an encounter broke out at Marahama Sangam area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today.
Security forces cordoned off Marahama village this afternoon after militants attacked security forces patrol party.

There was a brief encounter and they managed to flee from the encounter site. The searches of the area were conducted but militants were not traced.
Meanwhile, police today arrested two persons in connection with the Shopian fake encounter case. They have been sent to eight days of judicial remand by a local court.
“We have arrested two persons in connection with the case”, said a senior police officer.
The two arrested persons connected to the case are local collaborators who have been detained by the police on charges of “criminal conspiracy” under relevant Sections in an FIR.
Both the accused are going through further questioning to reveal the chain of events.
Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh yesterday said that the investigation into an alleged fake encounter in Shopian, in which three men from Rajouri district were killed, is in the final stages.
