Srinagar, Jan 15: Militants managed to escape after an encounter broke out at Rudbugh in Magam area of Budgam district this morning.

A police official said that the Police and 2-RR of the Army launched a cordon and search operation in Rudbugh on a very specific input about the presence of 2-3 militants.
As the joint team approached the suspected area, the hiding militants fired upon the party leading to an encounter.
The entire area was sealed off and traffic on Soibugh-Beerwah road was stopped for the day. The house-to-house searches were conducted after the initial firing and more troops were brought in but no militants were found.
It is believed that the militants fled from the cordon during the initial firing.
