JAMMU, Dec 30: An infiltration attempt was foiled by the Army last night at Karmara area on the Line of control (LoC) in Poonch district by opening heavy firing after observing suspicious movement.
Three militants reportedly tried to infiltrate from the LoC into this side and one of them was injured in the firing. Two others fled back taking the injured with them to Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK).
With the onset of dawn, the alert Army personnel resumed search operations on the LoC in Karmara and surrounding areas of Poonch sector. The firing had stopped late last night.
Inputs revealed that a group of three militants tried to infiltrate into the Indian territory under the cover of dense fog and adverse weather conditions last night but troops opened heavy firing after observing suspicious movement.
In the firing, one militant was injured. Finding troops on very high alert, the militants escaped back along with the injured.
Some recoveries were reportedly made from the spot.
