Militant modules busted, 6 held

SRINAGAR, Mar 11: Security forces today busted Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen militant modules in Central Kashmir district of Budgam and North Kashmir’s Kupwara district while 13 youth were apprehended from Pulwama district of South Kashmir in nocturnal raids.
Police said that acting on a specific information, Budgam Police and 50 RR of Army busted a JeM militant module active in the Chadoora area of district Budgam.
The JeM militant associates were arrested during the operation which was launched in the village by the security forces last night. The arrested include Dilawar Sofi of Donniwari, Chadoora and Sameer Yousuf Ganie of Magreypoora, Chadoora in district Budgam.
Police said that they were active in the area for last few months and were involved in various subversive activities and providing shelter and logistic support to militants in the area.
Police said that on their disclosure, arms and ammunition and other incriminating material have also been recovered. “In this regard, a FIR under relevant provisions of law stands registered in PS Chadoora and investigation taken up”, the spokesman said.
A police official said that on a specific information, Kupwara Police and 5 Bihar of Army busted a Hizb module active in the Kralpora area of district Kupwara.
The official said that three militant associates affiliated with the HM have been arrested. They were in close contact with high profile militant commander Bashir Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam operating from PoK.
The arrested have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Payair son of Ghulam Mohammad Payair of Kunan Poshpora Kupwara, Mohammad Altaf Payair son of late Ghulam Qadir Payair of Dardsun, Kupwara and Abdul Rouf Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik of Dardsun, Kupwara.
Police said that they were active in the area for last 8 months and involved in various subversive activities and providing shelter / logistic support to militants. The trio were also tasked with recruiting new militants from Kupwara district. “During the course of investigation arms/ ammunition and other incriminating materials have been recovered”, police added.
Police have registered a case (FIR No 13/202O U/s 13, 18 , 39 ULAP act & 7/25 IA Act) in PS Kralpora and further investigation has been taken up.
And over a dozen youth were arrested in nocturnal raids in different villages of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district last night.
At least 13 youth were arrested during nocturnal raids in Sirnoo, Monghama and Kareemabad villages of Pulwama district last night. These raids were conducted by the security forces against alleged stone pelters in these villages.
A police officer said that these youth were arrested on charges of stone pelting. They have been identified as Firdous Ganie, 19 , of Monghama, ubaid Nazir, 18 of Sirnoo, Amin Ramzan, 16 of Sirnoo, Liyaqat Ali, 18, of Sirnoo, Shahid Hamid, 18, of Sirnoo, Aadil Ali, 17, of Sirnoo, Towfeeq Maqbool, 17, of Sirnoo, Shabbir Rasool, 23, of Kharpora Sirnoo, Towseef Akbar, 20, of Miranda, Shafi one, 28, of Kharpora Sirnoo, Shahid Ramzan, 21, of Dalipora, Asif Reyaz, 21, of Kareemabad and Arbaz Hassan Bhat, 22, of Kareemabad.
Security forces have launched massive operations in South Kashmir and other places against the OGWs of militants, stone pelters and militants during which they have arrested around four dozen militant associates in last few months.
