Militant module busted

Srinagar, Nov 22: In a major breakthrough against militant infrastructure in North Kashmir, security forces today busted a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant module by arresting two active LeT militants and their two important associates including a woman associate in Bandipora.
A police spokesman said that Bandipora Police along with 13 RR of Army and CRPF during a cordon and search operation launched at Gundbal Nursery arrested two active militants of the LeT.
They have been identified as Musaib Mir alias Moya resident of Rakh Hajin and Arafat Farooq Wagey alias Dr Adil of Gulshnabad Hajin.
“Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-56 riffle, four AK series magazines, live rounds, RDX powder, nails and ball bearings, batteries 9 volt, detonators, IED mechanism circuit, remote control, loose wire and iron pipes etc have been recovered from their possession,” he said.
The joint party also arrested their two important militant associates identified as Imran Majeed Mir alias Jaffar Bhaie resident of Wangipora Sumbal and Suraya Rashid Wani alias Senty alias Tabish resident of Wahab Parray Mohalla Hajin along with two hand grenades and other incriminating materials.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the busted militant module was being handled by LeT militant commander alias Samama alias Babar from PoJK. The module was directed to carry out substantial attacks on civilians and security forces to instill fear in the minds of general public,” the spokesman added.
He said that they were also tasked to carry out a powerful IED blast at any crowded public place to cause maximum civilian casualties thereby averting a major tragedy.
