Srinagar, June 5: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said that militants are resorting to attacks on innocent civilians to provoke security forces so that they will do something in desperation.
Without naming Pakistan, Sinha said that the neighbour is hell bent to deteriorate the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing a gathering at SKICC on World Environment Day, Sinha said that the attacks on innocent civilians in Kashmir is the result of sheer desperation. “They are not even sparing girls and women now. It is their desperation, that they are resorting to such killings to provoke security forces so that they will do something similar in desperation,” he added.
The LG said that he wants to assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the administration wouldn’t take action against any innocent person.
“It has been the policy of J&K administration that our security forces should not take action against any innocent person,” he said.
“The terror is being used as a tool against innocent civilians and administration and security forces would do their work with promptness”, he said.

The LG said that as long as people of Jammu and Kashmir do not condemn such acts by the militants, things will not be normal here. He said that peace will only prevail in Jammu and Kashmir when people will come forward and condemn such acts by the militants as this is their national duty.
“I want to appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to condemn such acts in strongest possible terms by these militants, so that peace will prevail in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
