Militant arrested in Khrew

SRINAGAR, July 28: A militant associated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was arrested during a cordon and search operation in Khrew area of Awantipora area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district today.
Police said that based on specific information, Awantipora Police, Army 50 RR and CRPF 185 Bn launched a joint CASO during morning hours in Shar Shali Khrew area of Pulwama district.
“During the search operation, the joint security forces observed some suspicious movement in the orchard area, which was under cordon”, Police said.
“The joint forces noticed a suspected person, who was trying to escape but alert operation parties overpowered the suspect and apprehended him”, the police statement added.
He has been identified as Sahil Manzoor Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir of Tulbagh Pampore.
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition has been recovered from his possession, the statement added.
Militants today hurled a grenade towards a police party at Drusoo area of Rafiabad in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. However, no loss of life or injury was reported.
