The Information Technology Department of Jammu & Kashmir has once again underscored its commitment to leveraging technology for the public good by winning the prestigious SKOCH silver award for its innovative in-house project, e-UNNAT. This accolade is a significant recognition of J&K’s leadership in e-governance and public service delivery. The e-UNNAT platform stands out as a unified, integrated and transparent gateway that simplifies public services for the people of J&K. Launched in July 2022 and developed in collaboration with the NIC, the platform has seamlessly integrated all 1164 online Government services under one roof. This remarkable achievement places J&K at the forefront of e-governance, as evidenced by its top position in the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) rankings released in October 2024. What makes e-UNNAT particularly noteworthy is its citizen-centric approach. Features like the AI-powered DigiSahayak Chatbot, which provides instant assistance, and the Rapid Assessment System, which collects user feedback, reflect a commitment to enhancing user experience. The seamless NSSO (Meri Pehchaan) login ensures accessibility and convenience, empowering citizens with a hassle-free digital interface.
The impact of e-UNNAT is both measurable and meaningful. Over 78.7 lakh applications have been processed through the portal with an impressive 86.5 pecent user satisfaction rate. Such statistics highlight not only the efficiency of the system but also the trust it has garnered among the citizens. This achievement is a testament to the relentless efforts of the IT Department specifically under the shadow of multiple challenges. It reflects a shift in governance prioritising transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. However, the journey does not end here. The challenge lies in maintaining the momentum, addressing any operational challenges, and ensuring that the benefits of e-UNNAT reach the grassroots. Continuous innovation, coupled with effective public awareness campaigns, will be critical in maximising the platform’s potential. J&K’s e-UNNAT project is a shining example of how technology, when harnessed effectively, can be a powerful enabler of good governance. It is a proud moment for J&K and a promising signal for the future of e-governance in India.
