NEW DELHI, Apr 4: The activists of All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here, today in protest against the failure of the Government to solve the long standing issues of the displaced Pandits from Valley.
The protest was led by chairman of the Committee, Desh Rattan. The protesters raising slogans against the callousness of both Union and State Governments towards the displaced Pandits from Valley leading 27th year in exile said that for the first time in last 27 years of turmoil they were deprived of ration supply on the occasion of Maha Shivratri the holy festival of the Pandits this year which is totally unfortunate.
The protesters said that being hounded out from Valley by terrorists the ration given to the Pandits was debited to security related expenses and the community depended on cash doles from Government for keeping their body and soul together can’t be brought under the purview of NFSA.
The protesters also took the Government to task for its failure in removing the encroachments from Pandits land and religious places in Valley, release of RBA certificates in favour of the community youth falling under RBA areas of Valley, delaying tactics in implementation of PM’s employment package in letter and spirit.
The protesters demanded permanent rehabilitation of the community saying how long they can lead the exiled life within their country and the Government should take steps for return and rehabilitation of the community in their homeland as per their aspirations.
Later the delegation of AMCCC called on Director Home Affairs, S C Karol and discussed the problems with him. The Director Home Affairs assured the delegation that the issue of ration will be settled within 10 to 12 days.
The other AMCCC members who participated in the demonstration included K S Bedi, Chaman Lal Raina, Manmohan, C L Bhat, C L Raina and B L Koul.
Meanwhile, the inmates of Jagti township also held a demonstration in the camp and later took a rally towards the National Highway.
The protesters including men, women and children were demanding immediate supply of ration. They also demanded issuance of Aadhar cards to migrants in camps.
Sunil Pandita of Relief holders, Vijay Kaul of Jagti Welfare Committee Vinod Tickoo and other camp representatives warned to intensify the agitation in case the ration was not released immediately.
