Migrants delegation calls on Revenue Minister

JAMMU, Apr 15: A delegation of Save Kashmiri Migrants Property Movement led by its president Vijay Raina called on Minister of Revenue Javid Mustafa Mir and apprised him about the encroachments made by certain unscrupulous elements and land mafia on the migrants property in Kashmir Valley.
The delegation informed the Minister that some Revenue officials are in league with them. The delegation demanded implementation of Migrants Immovable Property Act 1997 in letter and spirit.
Raina informed the Minister that concerned DCs under the Act are custodians of the migrant property but they have failed to discharge their official duty. He said a migrant who died in 2007 but a sale deed on his name was executed in 2010 which shows the intensions of the Revenue officials.
He said in most of the cases the Revenue officials have tampered the records which has been a cause of concern for the displaced people and the mutations have been made without the knowledge of the migrants owning the property.
The Minister assured the delegation that the Government is committed to address the grievances of the people and he will personally take up the cases one by one and the encroachments will be removed very soon.
