Migrant relief holders protest at Jagti

JAMMU, Sept 21: A protest was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front under the chairmanship of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita.
Addressing the protesters Pandita said that for the last three months ration of relief holders has been stopped by the Government due to which migrant relief holders are facing difficulties.
Pandita said that nine kg of rice , two kg of flour per soul and one kg of sugar for per family were given free of cost by the Government to migrant relief holders which has been stopped by the Government due to which the relief holders are at the verge of starvation.
The JTC activists took out a protest rally from Lane No.7 to the National Highway. The Relief holders were demanding the pending ration of three months to relief holders as soon as possible.
They said that due to poverty relief holders cannot educate their children well because the needs of reading and writing are also very expensive. They said that due to high inflation the relief holders can’t even buy medicines for the sick and can’t buy household goods.
The members urged the Government to increase the monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 for per family.
The members demanded to announce a new package of 20,000 jobs for Kashmiri Pandit migrant unemployed youth and one job to educated youth of those families where there is no serving Government employee.
The members are also demanded compensation for property loss of 32 years, pending Ex-gratia relief of gutted houses, compensation for over aged youth to be given .Illegal occupation of land properties and religious places should be removed in Kashmir valley.
