Migrant murdered in Jagti

JAMMU, Aug 4: An elderly Kashmiri migrant was murdered by three to four miscreants at Jagti township under the jurisdiction of Nagrota police station tonight. Though all the accused have escaped from the spot, IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar has directed police to ensure immediate arrest of the killers.
The victim has been identified as Tej Krishan Talashi, 65, son of Prem Nath Talashi, a resident of Jagti township.
Mr Kumar said SSP Jammu Atul Goel has been asked to camp at the spot while a special team has been constituted headed by SDPO Nagrota Khalik Choudhary for arrest of the accused, all of whom were locals and have been identified.
The IGP said special teams have been rushed to various places in hunt of the killers.
Reports said three to four criminals came to Jagti township in Bolero No. 7778 and tried to kidnapped 22 years old Ankush son of Talashi. Ankush, however, managed to escape from the clutches of criminals and survived.
In the meantime, Talashi along with other citizens of Jagti township chased the Bolero in a car and intercepted it at Grid Station, Nagrota. They asked the Bolero inmates about the reasons for kidnapping attempt of Ankush.
One of the criminals attacked Talashi with a rod and a sharp-edged weapon killing him on spot.
SSP Jammu Atul Goel, SP Rural Rajesh Sharma, SDPO Nagrota Khalik Choudhary and SHO Inspector OP Chib rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to GMC Jammu, where he was declared as dead. The accused managed to escape from the spot.
Police, however, said that all accused have been identified and would be nabbed soon. They were stated to be the history-sheeters.
Local people of Jagti held a demonstration against the killing and seeking immediate arrest of the culprits.
