JAMMU, Apr 18: A middle aged person who is confined to a wheel chair for last four years now is running from pillar to post for justice but to no avail.
Subash Chander Gupta who was a driver by profession became disabled after he fell seriously ill four years back while carrying goods to Leh in his truck.
He was shifted to Government Medical College Srinagar where from later he was referred to GMC Jammu and since then he is confined to wheel chair.
Gupta has not been given any assistance or help by the Government over these years. The wheel chair on which he is moving from one place to another has also broken.
The poor fellow who was feeding a family of four persons including his two children and wife has no source of income at present and family has come on footpath.
A resident of Rampora Jammu, Gupta was not considered for pension given by Social Welfare Department to differently abled persons. His son is a student of 9th class and daughter is studying in class 5th but the family is unable to bear the expenses of their studies.
Putting up his case before the higher ups in Government from time to time Gupta could not get any justice as no relief or assistance was provided to him to be granted by Social Welfare Department to such people.
The poor fellow however saw a ray of hope in the Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh whom he met at his office at Gandhi Nagar today. The Minister assured to provide a wheel chair and medicines to him for treatment.
Gupta has demanded that the family be given pension being given to differently abled people by Social Welfare Department and also scholarship to the children for continuing their studies.
