Sir,
Educational institutions are the important social institutions where formal education is imparted to the students to prepare them for reshaping their future. In these institutions socialisation of children takes place whereby they internalize attitudes and other behaviour patterns. In fact children are groomed and are exposed to a wider world to become the assets for the society.
However, it is bizarre to notice that these social institutions have been engaged for a variety of purposes due to the policies framed by the top brass. The result is that specific purpose for which these institutions are established is altogether defeated.
Mid Day meal scheme although beneficial to a section of society has adversely affected the academic ambience of these institutions. In fact, the educational institutions should grow food for thought and being out the best out of growing children.
The way mid day meals are prepared in the premises of these institutions diverts the whole energy and attention of teachers, children towards arranging of meals. These institutions, as such, become centres of regular social functions with a lot of hustle and bustle.
Some deep thought has to be given to this sensitive issue. Mid day meals should be separated from the main school premises and there should be a separate structure for it outside the school complex. By doing so the an atmosphere for academic discipline is restored and these institutions can be identified by their function.
Yours etc…
