SRINAGAR, Sept 14: High Court Bar Association, Kashmir, today re-elected leading lawyer Mian Abdul Qayoom as its president.
The results of election were declared by the Election Commission of the Bar immediately after the counting of votes was concluded this evening at Lower Court, Sanat Ghar in Bemina here, where the polling was held.
Advocate Mian Qayoom defeated Advocate G N Shaheen by a margin of 197 votes to become president of the Bar. He polled 429 votes while Shaheen polled 232.
Advocate Aijaz Bedar was elected as Vice President of the Bar. He defeated Advocate Abdul Ahad Rather by a huge margin of 320 votes. Bedar polled 496 votes and Rather 174.
Advocate Bashir Sidiq was elected as General Secretary of the Bar. He defeated Mohammad Ashraf Wani by a margin of 177 votes. Sidiq polled 416 votes and Wani 239.
Advocate Anwar-ul-Islam Shaheen was elected as Joint Secretary of Association. He defeated Advocate Shafat Nazir by a margin of 120 votes. Shaheen polled 357 votes and Nazir 254.
Advocate Hamid Shafi was elected as treasurer uncontested.
