JAMMU, June 3: All MGNREGA Employees Association has demanded immediate revocation of the recent order by Secretary Rural Development Department, according to which extension of the MGNREGA supporting staff shall be made on the basis of their performance.
“We strongly condemn this order which is in violation of the earlier order by the then Commissioner Secretary, Farooq Peer (RD/MGNREGA/24/2004-07 on 2/10/2013), in which our annual extension was made auto renewal,” said Parvej Ahmed, District president of the Association in a statement issued here.
He reminded that MGNREGA supporting staff has been working in the RDD for the last 12-14 years and their services were being utilized in each and every scheme such as MPLAD, MLA funds, MLC funds, SBM, Panchayat, Election duties, Nodal Officer, Liaison Officers and COVID-19 duties but the department concerned has utterly failed to frame any job policy for them.
Ahmed further said the employees who are working under MGNREGA scheme are highly qualified, well experienced and deserve to be absorbed against available vacant posts in the Rural Development Department
The Association appealed the Government to consider their genuine demands of the MGNREGA supporting staff, failing which they may go on indefinite pen down strike.
