Method Acting Workshop concludes at Natrang

JAMMU, May 28: Method Acting Workshop concluded at Natrang Studio Theatre here, today.
This exclusive workshop was conducted by Vikram Sharma an alumni of   Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film institute, New York who is also a visiting faculty of National School of Drama, New Delhi.
Method Acting is a range of training and rehearsal techniques that seek to encourage sincere and emotionally expressive performances, as formulated by a number of different theatre practitioners, principally in the United States, where it is among the most popular and controversial approaches to acting.
In this technique of acting in which an actor aspires to complete emotional identification with a part is based on the system evolved by Stanislavsky and brought into prominence in the US in the 1930s.
Method acting was developed by Elia Kazan and Lee Strasberg in particular, and is associated with actors such as Marlon Brando and Dustin Hoffman.
Vikram Sharma’s work with Natrang actors was more about self exploration with the right perspective, the actors worked on different aspects and all different parts of their instrument. His training process was more about doing different exercises. In a highly professional manner, he worked on breath, voice and different physical, mental and vocal habits of the participating actors.
His training responded to a basic question which every actor keep asking while entering to a training floor as how to sharpen the skills the acting skills. How those skills are to be practiced in everyday life and why these skills are of paramount importance for an actor.
The workshop was followed by a Q&A session where many of the actors cleared their doubts regarding this kind of work.
On the occasion Natrang Director Balwant Thakur informed that as a part of the celebrations of 35 years of Natrang, the organization is endeavouring lot of festivals and training initiatives and this workshop of method acting that too through an internationally trained actor was an addition to these celebrations.
Those who participated in this workshop included Aarushi Thakur Rana, Mohit Kaul, Chahat Katyal, Priya Thakur, Meenakshi Bhagat, Ashley Mehta, Aashish Parihar, Shivam Singh, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Abhi Bargotra, Gauri Thakur, Aashish Thakur, Khushi Sharma, Vrinda Sharma, Vanshika Gupta, Ajay Lalotra, Manoj Lalotra, Zeeshan Haider, Rahul Gupta, Toyab Hussain, Blessy Teji, Muskaan Sharma, Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah, Shahrukh Malik and Rakhit Arora.
