It is good that Government is taking steps to conserve water and water connections are being metered. Initially commercial establishments and thereafter it is going to cover domestic consumers.But what about illegal connections. First the department affords connections illegaly without any proper assessment and then advises for water conservation. Apart from metering, the illegal connections should also be checked/plugged or made legal in genuine cases. Besides, there should be proper distribution of available water in different areas.In some areas water is given twice daily or regularly daily and in some areas on alternate basis or even after two days. This mismatch in management of distribution should be taken care of by augumenting fresh schemes for distribution so that there is optimal use of water with fair distribution also.
