SRINAGAR, Sept 3: The Weatherman has forecast incessant rains for the State for next three days and administration has asked people to shift to safer places from Nallas as there is threat of flash floods in entire State including Ladakh region.
Director Meteorological Department, Sonam Lotus told Excelsior that moderate to heavy rains in plains and snowfall in upper reaches amid 7-8 Degree Celsius drop in day temperature is expected in next three days in Jammu and Kashmir.
“A Western Disturbance over J&K and its interaction with monsoon currents over North West India is likely to affect the State from today (Wednesday) to Saturday with occasional gaps,” Sonam Lotus said.
“Under the influence of this weather system, moderate to heavy rain/thundershower and snowfall over higher reaches will occur at most places in Kashmir and Jammu and at a few places in Ladakh region particularly along Srinagar-Jammu, Srinagar-Leh, and Leh-Manali Road,” the weatherman said.
“Some places may receive heavy to very heavy rain/shower during this period,” Lotus said, warning that the weather condition may trigger landslide and flash flood in vulnerable areas of the State.
“Above weather system may disrupt surface and air transport during these days. During above period day temperatures may fall by 7-8 deg Celsius,” the Weatherman said.
