MeT forecasts rain, snow

SRINAGAR, Feb 20: Weather to remain pleasant and dry in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours even as the Meteorological forecast of widespread rain or snow on February 22, officials informed today.
A MeT office said that an active western disturbance of moderate intensity will bring widespread rains and snow across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Pleasant weather conditions continue to prevail in Srinagar in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, much to the delight of the tourists. The maximum temperature all across the Valley continues to be recorded above normal.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 0.1 degree Celsius today which was minus 0.9 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season.
However, the maximum temperature in Srinagar was recorded as 14.4 degree Celsius which was 4.5 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.
Ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir recorded as low temperature of minus 8.0 degree Celsius today against the minus 7.5 degree Celsius recorded the previous night.
Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.3 degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded minus 0.8 degree Celsius while Kokernag recorded a low of minus 2.6 degree Celsius.
The frontier Kashmir’s Kupwara district recorded a low of minus 2.3 degree Celsius today (UNI)
