JAMMU, May 17: A mentally unstable man died today here at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after he allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence in Digiana area of city outskirts, yesterday.
“The deceased has been identified as Romesh Singh (60) son of Sewa Singh, resident of Digiana Ashram”, a police official said. Quoting the family members of the deceased, the official said that Romesh was mentally unstable and was taking medicines for quite a long time.
He said yesterday Romesh consumed some poisonous substance following which he was shifted to GMCH Jammu, where he passed away today at about 7.30 AM. “After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, he said, adding, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC had been initiated in the case by the concerned police.
