JAMMU, Sept 15: A mentally sick Sub Inspector (SI) of the Excise Department has been arrested after a video showing him stealing the CFL lamps from outside a shop in Nanak Nagar area went viral on social media.
As per police sources, Vikas Khajuria, a resident of Shastri Nagar, posted as SI in Excise Department was arrested today by the Gandhi Nagar police for stealing the CFL lamps from outside a shop in Nanak Nagar area.
The cop landed in trouble after a CCTV footage showing him stealing the CFL lamps went viral on social media.
The cop posted in the Excise Department was recently promoted as SI from the rank of guard.
The SI is mentally sick and various inquiries in different cases stand initiated against him by the Excise Department also.
A case under FIR Number 235/15 under Section 380 RPC has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
When contacted Incharge SSP Jammu Rajeev Pandey said, “We have arrested the SI and the matter is being investigated, adding that the SI is mentally sick”.
