POONCH, Mar 30: Almost all the interior roads of Mendhar main market and its adjoining areas in district Poonch are in dilapidated condition, resulting into most inconvenience to the general public.
Thousands of people commute on this road on daily basis and presently it is in deplorable condition, the locals said, adding that condition of road deteriorates further during rainy season.
Local residents, Mohd Liaquat, Mohd Sikander, Sachin Kapoor, Sanjay Kumar and Muneer Ahmed alleged that the general public is getting upset due to the negligence of the road construction agencies including GREF. Many times the officials of the department were told about this problem but they have not taken up any repair work on this road.
Another local resident said that the road was inviting the accidents. He said it is the main road from where the road leads to various villages of Mendhar or Poonch. Shopkeepers are also worried about the condition of this road. Water logging is the routine affair. He further said that several road accidents take place quite often due to bad condition of road but nobody takes cognizance of the matter.
The residents appealed to the concerned authorities including District Administration Poonch and the Lt Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene into the matter and issue necessary directions to the concerned authorities.
