JAMMU, Dec 2: “Mehbooba’s unabated and intermittent communal narrative is enough to damage the interests of Kashmir and Kashmiris in both the short run as well as the long run”, said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader and incharge Department of Political Affairs and Feedback, J&K BJP.
Reacting to her recent statements, Chrungoo said that it is very unfortunate that the main leaders of the Gupkar Alliance kept shooting anti-national, communal, anti-social and unconstitutional statements right ab initio damaging the cause of the people which they professed to represent. With Abdullahs and Mehbooba Mufti in the forefront, as usual, the other leaders have no great locus in the Alliance. This can be witnessed even in the distribution of tickets for the Zila Parishad (DDC) elections, which were overwhelmingly in favour of the two family parties.
“All along, Abdullahs and Muftis have been claiming that the Article 370 and 35A were a ‘bridge’ between the erstwhile State and the rest of India and those were also the main guarantee to ensure the Muslim majority character of the State. They would also justify the anti-women and anti-human rights aspects of these Articles since their main aim was to assure the ‘dignity & pride’ of the people of Kashmir. They preferred not to wait for the decision or observation of the Apex Court in this context and instead went for an open challenge to the newly created political situation in the J&K”, Chrungoo added.
Mehbooba’s love for communal overtones has a long history of more than two decades, and even during the Amarnath land agitation, she made a hell for herself in the Jammu region due to her erring statements. In a recent interview, she in-sensitively claimed that the Government of India doesn’t talk to Pakistan since it was a Muslim country ignoring the facts relating to India’s special relations with more than 50 Islamic nations. Most of them have a great penchant or weakness for India and the PM Narendra Modi, while many of them have a great commercial and business interest in India.
