JAMMU, Jan 28: Alleging that those involved in incidents of violence on Republic Day were BJP men, PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has demanded immediate withdrawal of the three Farm laws.
“Government should immediately take back these laws as these were enacted without consulting farmers,” she said, here today in response to media question on the Farm laws and violence on Republic Day in Delhi.
Mehbooba further alleged that there was a conspiracy to defame the farmers, who feel scared of losing their farming and everything because of the new Farm laws.
“Republic Day is a day of celebration of the Constitution. When you make laws and when these laws are against the fundamentals of the Constitution, like in the case of Farm laws…. For the farms bills, farmers were never consulted and they fear to lose everything,” she said and demanded withdrawal of the laws to end this fear among the farming community.
Mehbooba claimed that those involved in incidents on Republic Day violence were BJP men. “Whatever we see on television, the man who did this (violence), is a BJP man. He remained with Prime Minister, he remained with Home Minister, he was campaigning in election for Sunny Deol. It all shows that was an attempt to defame the farmers,” she said.
This is first visit of Mehbooba Mufti to Jammu division post the District Development Council (DDC) elections, which were held in November-December last year.
She reached here yesterday for a week -long tour, during which she will also visit the border districts of Poonch-Rajouri and interact with party leaders and workers.
Today at the party headquarters in Gandhi Nagar, Mehbooba Mufti held threadbare discussions with senior PDP leaders on party affairs and future strategy for strengthening the organization. A detailed discussion was also held on outcome of the recently held DDC elections.
At the PDP headquarters, various deputation of the party leaders from Samba, Kathua, Jammu Urban, Jammu Rural, Women Wing etc called on Mehbooba Mufti and gave her feedback about the latest political situation vis-a- vis PDP. A deputation of advocates, affiliated to PDP, also met the party chief.
