SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, opposition National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and working president Omar Abdullah have expressed shock and anguish over the killing of a couple and their three minor sons in shelling by Pakistani troops in Balakote sector on Sunday.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Ms Mehbooba said, ”Anguished to hear of 5 people losing their lives in the crossfire along the LoC in the Balakote sector of Poonch.
My deepest condolences to their family.” Dr Abdullah tweeted, ”Shocked over killing of five civilians of a single family in #Poonch due to cross LoC shelling.
Reiterate appeal for immediate restoration of ceasefire. Extend heartfelt condolences to the kith and kin of the deceased.” Mr Omar tweeted, ”Very sad. Allah jannat naseeb karey.” Mohammad Ramzan (35), his wife Malika Bi (32), son Abdul Rehman (14), Mohammad Rizwan (12) and Razak Ramzan (7) were killed and two daughters Nasreen Kousar (11) and Mahreen Kousar (5) were injured in the unprovoked shelling by Pak troops in Balakote sector Mendhar this morning.
