NEW DELHI: J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday called on the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss with him the current political situation in the state.
This was her first meeting with the Union Home Minister after the Government decided to have a sustained dialogue process in the state.
Earlier, Ms Mufti had welcomed the appointment of former Intelligence Bureau Chief Dineshwar Sharma as the Government’s representative for the sustained dialogue process in the State.
According to the sources, holding of panchayat election in J&K was also on the agenda in Thursday’s meeting.
The last local elections were held in 2011 in the state and the next elections were scheduled in 2016 but due to unrest in the valley after the killing of Hizbul’s Burhan Wani, the election were put on hold. (AGENCIES)
