Mehboob Beg accuses NC of failing PAGD in joint fight against BJP

SRINAGAR, Apr 14: PDP General Secretary and former MP Mehboob Beg today expressed disappointment over PAGD’s failure to provide an opportunity to the people to express their anger and resentment towards BJP for what they did to the people of the state starting from August 5, 2019 till date.
“Starting with depriving the people of the special Constitutional provision, a solemn commitment by the Republic of India to the permanent residents of the State, alarming rise in unemployment of our youth, snatching away their lands, NIA raids, dismissal of people from Govt jobs, installation of smart meters, stopping of food rations, bulldozing of homes and livelihoods and enrollment of non state subjects as voters, BJP’s onslaught is countless,” he said while interacting with party office bearers of Zone Anantnag.
Admitting that number of Parliament seats in Kashmir is an insignificant number in overall national landscape, the PDP leader, however, opined that a united fight on these seats would have sent a clear signal that people in Kashmir have rejected BJP’s repressive treatment of own people.
“Unfortunately the president of the PAGD chose party interest above and over the interests of the people. Their unilateral decision of announcing party candidates for upcoming Parliamentary elections even without consulting PAGD members smacks of arrogance,” he said.
Urging people to vote for the party candidates who they think can speak loudly, clearly and fearlessly for their rights in the Parliament, Beg hastened to add: “To me PDP is the one.”
