KATHUA, Mar 13: The Department of Floriculture today organized a district level mega event on commercial floriculture, here at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK).
MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia, presided over the function.
During the function, Director Floriculture, Jammu, KK Sharma gave an overview of the Floriculture Department Jammu and particularly of district Kathua. He said that Kathua district has the distinction of being number one district in Jammu province for growing Gerbra and also for the rose cultivation under protected cultivation.
Tejinder Singh, president, Flower Grower Association also spoke on the occasion. Dr Amrish Vaid, programme coordinator, KVK Kathua, also spoke on the occasion on commercial floriculture.
A large number of farmers from Kathua district even from Bani, Basohli, Billawar and Hiranagar also participated in the programme.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Ashok Gupta, Deputy Director, Floriculture Jammu.
