After sleeping over the issue for many years, the State Government introduced the Mediclaim Policy for its employees partially. The administration issued notification in the month of January asking the DDOs to submit information and ensured the deduction of premium from the salaries of the Gazatted Cadre for the month of January itself. The Government in a hurry introduced the policy but astonishingly no further process was initiated. It seems that the Govt. is not concerned with the welfare of its employees but wanted to benefit the Insurance Company for the reasons best known to it.
The DDOs as well as the Insured Employees are in confusion as no process has been initiated for the preparation of mandatory Photo I. Cards though the policy was started about two months ago. There is no information about the network of hospitals and how to avail the benefits of the policy if needed.
The Government is implored upon to issue directions to the concerned authorities to start the process of preparing requaisite I. Cards and ensure introduction of the policy in letter and spirit. The govt. should also extend the policy to the employees other than Gazetted Cadre without any riders at the earliest for the overall welfare of them.
