Medical student killed in Russia

SRINAGAR, Mar 9: A Medical student hailing from Kashmir has been killed after being attacked by local goons in Russia, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said today.
Yasir, who was a medical student hailing from Hasanabad locality of Rainawari here, was hospitalized at Kazan Trauma Centre in Russia after being attacked by some goons yesterday, his apparent friend, Murtaza Jaffar, informed Foreign Minister on Twitter and sought help.
“@SushmaSwaraj ma’m a Kashmiri medical student has been attacked by local goons in Russia, he is in coma. Lost his money n documents too (sic). SOS,” he wrote on the microblogging website. Shortly after the help appeal, the Foreign Minister informed that an Indian doctor is treating him and announced that Government of India would bear all expenses on his treatment.
“Our Embassy officials will go and see Yasir in hospital tomorrow. We will bear all expenses on his treatment./2 @imsabbah @murtazajaffar,” the Foreign Minister informed. She said that the Indian Government would take up the matter with Russian authorities.
However, Sushma Swaraj again took to Twitter at 3:37 am today and announced the death of the Kashmiri student, saying: “I am pained to inform that Yasir – an Indian medical student from Srinagar has succumbed to his injuries in Russia. @murtazajaffar @imsabbah.”
There was no word from J&K officials over the incident so far.
