SRINAGAR, Apr 29: Medical Employees Joint Action Forum today called for strike on May 6, the first day of opening of Civil Secretariat in Srinagar, in protest against the supplying of spurious drugs.
Medical Employees Joint Action Forum, an amalgam of Medical professional, including Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Resident Doctors Association SKIMS, Non-Gazetted Employees Association, SKIMS, Resident Doctors Association, GMC and Associated Hospitals, Medical Employees Forum of GMC and Associated Hospitals, Civil Society and High Court Bar Association called for the strike against what they said insensitiveness of the Government toward the spurious drug scam.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, president DAK and chairperson of Medical Employees Joint Action Forum, Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan said that strike will be observed in all the hospitals of valley, however, emergencies will function normally. He appealed people to make the strike call successful so as to force former Health Minister, Sham Lal Sharma to step down and punish other persons involved in the spurious drug scam.
Kashmir Bar Association supported the strike call and said that lawyers will boycott courts across Kashmir on May 6. They said that lawyers are free to represent the accused in the court of law. “We will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice”, Bar members said.
