JAMMU, Mar 14: Medical employees under the aegis of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) today held a one-day protest dharna under the chairmanship of president, JKMEF, Sushil Sudan, at Madam Shashi Bala Memorial Park, Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Jammu.
A large number of employees from all the districts of Jammu Division assembled in the park and shouted slogans to press the Government to fulfill their genuine demands.
Addressing the protesting employees, Sushil Sudan highlighted various demands of the employees, which included immediate clearance of DPC of various categories, filling up of vacant posts in Health and Family Welfare Department strictly as per seniority, creation of posts of District Pharmacy Officers and Block Pharmacy Officers besides Section Officers in all the CMO offices and posts of Head Assistants at Block level and regular release of salary of FMPHWs working in Sub Centres under 2211 Family Welfare Head, who are without salary for last 12 to 14 months.
The employees also demanded risk allowance for Health Department employees, regularization of daily rated workers, amendment of SRO 20 dated February 24, 1992, re-organization of ministerial cadre, fixation of 25% quota for training to Class IV employees for different Para Medical courses as departmental candidates on the basis of their experience with relaxation of qualification bar of 12th with science subject, DDO powers for Medical Officer at PHC level besides designating him as Zonal Medical Officer to improve functioning of Health Department.
The other demands of the employees are change of designation of each category after a time period of five years and release of salary of Family Welfare employees working under new pension scheme and consolidated Safaiwalas, who are without wages for the last several months.
Meanwhile, the Federation decided to start chain hunger strike from April 15 at the same venue, if their demands are not fulfilled.
